Original Comic Art : My first proposed submision to Marvel, Lady IronFist - circa 1990!
Being a huge Iron Fist fan, I was shocked and apalled when they killed him off. See: Death of Ironfist. I immediately began to craft a story to bring him back. In those days I spent some time being mentored by Marie Severin at Marvel, and used to pop through from time to time looking to one day do some work there. Unfortunately, working a Continuity Studios under Neal Adams kept me so busy I took far too long to get it done and IronFist was brought back by Byrne and Claremont as creators and I was a huge fan of them too. That meant the end of that... or so I thought.
As I'd created some of these pages before Byrne and Claremont got up and running, I didn't want to waste the art I'd done (which I actually liked). Modifying the story to feature a female lead, I thought I'd do a book of my own and that became 'Lady SpiritFist.' I produced the first eight pages and put them in a 'flip-book' with another creator and it actually sold out. Years later I revisited the character as an online strip where the pages after these were done in color. See: Lady Spirit-Color
Here are the pages I still have (as I've always tried to keep the work I produced) but know I'm thinking of selling them now as I move to producing a comic book line of my own. Will she be a part of that? What do you think!?
